Caramel Apple Crunch

Doesn’t that sound like the perfect fall fragrance/flavor?
I made some wax melts in that fragrance.
They smell so delicious I decided to make the real thing!

This Caramel Apple Crunch dessert showed up on Pinterest.
You can find the recipe on the blog called My Wooden Spoon.
I couldn’t find Caramel Apple pie filling, so I improvised.

Ingredients

I dumped the pie filling into a 9x13 pan.
Then I poured some Caramel Ice Cream Sauce over it.

Next, I sprinkled the cake mix on top.

I added some more caramel sauce.

Then I poured the butter over the cake mix.
Into the oven it went.
I waited 50 minutes before taking it out.

Fresh out of the oven!

Naked in the Bowl

We added cool whip and dug in.

It’s very rich.
It’s extremely sweet.
I used almost half the bottle this time.
I think half of that would have been enough.
Next time, I’ll back off the caramel.
Just a touch.
Maybe.

You can always top it with caramel sauce if you want more.
If you’re craving a caramel apple sensation,
This recipe is quick, easy and delicious!

S’mores!

S'more Soap by SoapArt

This is the latest addition to my
Summer is winding down.
Well, okay.
I guess it’s over.
According to the calendar, it’s officially Fall.

S’mores are a summertime favorite of mine.
They bring back fond Girl Scout memories.
Campfires, friends, and chocolate.
And ooey, gooey marshmallows!

One is soap.
Two are for real.

Now I can have s’mores year round.

Honey Almond Soap

When I first smelled this fragrance, I was not a fan.
But it grew on me.
Out of the bottle, it’s not impressive.
It’s very strong.

Then I made lotion bars with it.
The scent became very appealing!
Then I made some wax melts with it.
Amazing!
A friend requested soap from it.
I was eager to dig in.
I made a double batch.
One loaf has a dark cocoa line in it.
The other loaf has a honeycomb pattern on top.
If you are a soap maker,
you might notice that the soap was at heavy trace
when I smushed it into the molds.
It was the consistency of cookie dough!
If you’re not a soap maker,
the way to tell is by the little spaces or holes in the soap.
Both smell delicious!
This Honey Almond is just what the name says.
There are no undertones of amaretto.
It’s a very sweet smell.
I love it in wax melts too.

Lighthouse Soaps

I have always liked lighthouses.
They are beacons of hope and light,
giving direction to the lost.

One of the first soap making molds I bought
Was the mold to make this lighthouse soap.

When I was in Georgia a couple of years ago,
I got to climb to the top of the Tybee IslandLighthouse.

I climbed all 178 steps of it.
I walked around the catwalk at the top.
The view was gorgeous.
It's an experience I will always remember.
Did I mention that our guest bath
is decorated in a lighthouse theme?
Yes, I like lighthouses.
And I like making lighthouse soap.

Kokopelli Soaps

This week I’ve been making Kokopelli Goat Milk Soaps.
What’s a Kokopelli, you say?

The Kokopelli is a Southwestern symbol
that represents the spirit of music.
The Kokopelli has a reputation
of being a bit of a trickster.
He is the Hopi symbol of fertility,
replenishment, music, dance, and mischief.

for these soaps.
It’s so luxurious, creamy and smooth
that it leaves your skin feeling oh so pampered.

What color or colors would you choose?

 Enjoy the weekend!

On a sidenote:
Go Iowa State Cyclones!

Now I'm off to make a red and gold Kokopelli soap.
